Our Yoga Nidra evening is an invitation to step out of the noise of daily life and into a sanctuary of stillness. From the moment participants arrive, the atmosphere is intentionally soft and welcoming. Whether someone chooses to lie down on a mat or remain comfortably supported in a chair, the entire experience is designed to help the body unwind and the mind drift into a state of deep, conscious rest. You're encouraged to create your own nest of comfort. Those on mats might layer blankets, cushions, bolsters or eye pillows, settling into a reclined position that feels nurturing and safe. Those in chairs are guided to find a posture that supports the spine, softens the shoulders and allows the breath to flow with ease. The evening begins with a gentle settling practice. Participants are guided through a series of calming techniques designed to relax the body layer by layer. A body scan invites awareness , releasing tension and inviting a sense of heaviness and ease. Breath awareness helps the mind soften and drift into the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep — the heart of Yoga Nidra. The guided visualisations are crafted to evoke a sense of inner spaciousness and calm. As the practice deepens, the body enters a state known as non‑sleep deep rest. This is where the magic of Yoga Nidra truly unfolds. The nervous system shifts into a restorative mode, stress hormones decrease, and the body’s natural healing processes become more active. Many people experience a sense of floating, spaciousness or timelessness. Others simply feel deeply at peace, as though they are being gently held by the practice itself. The benefits of this state are wide‑ranging. Yoga Nidra is known to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep quality, support emotional balance, and calm the overactive mind. It can help ease tension, soothe the nervous system, and create a sense of clarity and groundedness that lasts long after the session ends.
